Eclipse PRP Q & A

What is Eclipse PRP?

Your blood contains several components, including red and white blood cells, plasma, and platelets. The platelets play a unique role in the natural cell regeneration process. These small molecules rush to the site of tissue damage to boost cell turnover and repair, as well as trigger collagen production.

PRP or platelet-rich plasma is a compound derived from your blood that contains a high concentration of platelets. Dr. Chen creates PRP in-office using the Eclipse PRP system, which isolates a consistent concentration of platelets and eliminates all other undesirable elements like blood cells.

That provides the purest sample of PRP to use for aesthetic and medical purposes. Because PRP comes from your blood, there’s almost no risk of you having a negative reaction to treatment. PRP is safe and effective.

How does Eclipse PRP work?

To create your highly concentrated PRP solution, Dr. Chen draws a sample of blood from your arm. The sample is about the same amount that’s taken in a conventional lab test.

She places the blood in the Eclipse PRP system and spins it down at high speed to separate the platelets from the other components to create a pure, pristine form of PRP.

Dr. Chen then applies or injects the PRP as needed. Once the PRP interacts with the body, it releases essential growth factors and signaling proteins to promote healing.

How do I benefit from Eclipse PRP?

Dr. Chen may inject the PRP into areas of pain, like arthritic knees or an aching elbow, or use the PRP to boost your skin’s appearance.

PRP, when injected just beneath the surface of your facial skin, helps reduce the appearance of:

  • Lines and wrinkles
  • Sun damage
  • Scarring

PRP can also stimulate dormant hair follicles in the scalp to create thicker, longer locks in people with hair thinning and poor hair volume.

How long is an Eclipse PRP appointment?

The creation of PRP is relatively quick. The blood draw takes just a few minutes, and the process of spinning your sample down lasts 10 minutes. Dr. Chen then uses the PRP for your joint, skin, or scalp. Exactly how long that process takes depends on the procedure.

You may benefit from multiple treatments with PRP. Dr. Chen customizes a plan according to your needs and goals.
